A los 65 años hoy se oficializó el fallecimiento del talentoso tecladista y guitarrista de la banda inglesa The Cure, Perry Bamonte. La banda hizo el anuncio en su sitio web oficial, en donde escribieron :
“…CON UNA INMENSA TRISTEZA CONFIRMAMOS EL FALLECIMIENTO DE NUESTRO GRAN AMIGO Y COMPAÑERO DE GRUPO PERRY ARCHANGELO BAMONTE QUIEN FALLECIÓ, DESPUÉS DE UNA BREVE ENFERMEDAD, EN SU CASA DURANTE LA PASADA NAVIDAD.
TRANQUILO, INTENSO, INTUITIVO, CONSTANTE Y ENORMEMENTE CREATIVO, “TEDDY” FUE “TODO CORAZÓN” Y UNA PARTE VITAL EN LA HISTORIA DE LA CURA.
‘CUIDO DE LA BANDA’ DESDE 1984 HASTA 1989, SE CONVIRTIÓ EN MIEMBRO A TIEMPO COMPLETO DE THE CURE EN 1990 DONDE TOCÓ LA GUITARRA, EL BAJO DE SEIS CUERDAS Y EL TECLADO
EN ÁLBUMES COMO “WISH” (1992), “WILD MOOD SWINGS” (1996), BLOODFLOWES (2000), ACOUSTIC HITS (2001) Y THE CURE (2004), ADEMÁS, ACTUÓ EN MÁS DE 400 CONCIERTOS DE LA BANDA A LO LARGO DE 14 AÑOS.
Perry Bamonte entró a formar parte de la banda en 1990, en sustitución de Roger O’Donnell como teclista. Más tarde, tras la salida de Porl Thompson en 1993, asumió el rol de guitarrista solista a dúo con el cantante, Robert Smith. Perry colaboró en los álbumes Wish, Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers y The Cure. Se le ha atribuido la composición de la música de «Trust» para Wish, «This is a lie» para Wild Mood Swings y la de «Anniversary» para el álbum homónimo de la banda, The Cure. Perry también aparece en los álbumes en directo Paris y Show así como en Trilogy. Su hermano menor, Daryl Bamonte, también ha colaborado con la banda y con Depeche Mode como mánager de gira de ambas formaciones.
Y su bien fue expulsado del grupo junto a su hermano y a O’Donnell en 2005, regresó en 2022, para la gira ‘Shows Of A Lost World’ por Europa y en 2023 en América y Sudamérica.
